Overview

This training was developed for a healthcare provider to teach patients about the possible benefits of a low fiber diet for people who suffer from recurring small bowel obstructions. 

Intention

The healthcare provider asked for this training to be developed for a group of adults who suffer from recurring small bowel obstructions. Patients were familiar with terminology such as "small bowel obstruction" so emphasis was placed on informing them about the diet itself, rather than spending time defining the language used. The presentation was given using PowerPoint, with the graphic created as a supplement for patients to take home. 

Objective

At the conclusion of this lesson, learners will distinguish between common high and low fiber foods and be able to apply their knowledge by incorporating low fiber foods into their diets to reduce the risk of small bowel obstructions.
